1. MACPA Educational Foundation Award | Aug 2019 | UMGC | Awarded $1,000

Scholarship recipient from the Maryland Association of CPAs Educational Foundation for the 2019-2020 school year.

Contingent upon being enrolled as a full time student and completing all of the accounting courses required by the State Board in order to sit for the CPA exam.

2. Delegate Scholarship – Dr. Jay Jalisi |Jul 2019 | UMGC | Awarded $1,000

Recipient of Delegate Dr. Jay Jalisi’s scholarship, in recognition of academic excellence. Applicable for the 2019 – 2020 academic school year.

3. Delegate Scholarship – Benjamin T. Brooks | Jun 2019 | UMGC | Awarded $400

Selected to be a recipient of the 2019 Maryland State Delegate Scholarship offered by Delegate Benjamin T. Brooks of the 10th Legislative District.

This scholarship was designed to recognize outstanding students in the 10th district who are enrolled in a two or four year accredited college or university.

The Scholarship Committee awarded scholarships based on established criteria including academic achievement, community involvement, District 10 residency, and financial need.

Applicable for the 2019-2020 academic year – Fall & Spring terms.

4. CMA Scholarship Program | May 2019 | UMGC | Awarded over $1,000 in benefits

An Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) scholarship is offered each year to only 10 students per school to help students pursue the CMA certification at no cost.

The following are included:
– Entrance fee to the CMA program
– Exam support package with retired exam questions and a glossary of terms
– Registration fees covering both parts of the exam (additional fees will apply for retakes)
– Wiley CMAexcel Online Test Bank access for both exam parts for up to two years (U.S. students only)
– Up to three years of IMA membership while pursuing the certification

Benefits are valued at more than $1,000.

5. Delegate Scholarship Award – Adrienne A. Jones | May 2019 | UMGC | Awarded $400

Selected to be a recipient of Adrienne A. Jones’ District 10 Legislative Scholarship for the 2019-2020 academic year – Fall & Spring terms.

6. UMGC’s 2018 Fall Term Scholarship | Oct 2018 | Awarded $450

The 2018 Fall Term Scholarship is awarded in increments based on the number of credits completed. The award amounts and the terms in which they are awarded will vary depending on the number of credits transferred* and the number of credits earned per term.

To receive scholarship funds and continue eligibility certain criteria must be met.

Selected to receive a Cengage Unlimited Subscription.

8. Maryland Completion Scholarship | Aug 2018 – May 2020 | UMGC | Awarded $4,775

University of Maryland University College offers Maryland community college graduates the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree at a significantly reduced cost with the Completion Scholarship. Award recipients can complete a bachelor’s degree program for $12,000 or less, well below the typical tuition cost for in-state students.

This scholarship will automatically renew each term, if certain requirements are met to keep the award.

11. Stock Market Game Award 2012 | Gerstell Academy | 1st Place High School Team

Outstanding performance as a member of the 1st Place High School team in the Enhanced Spring Session Maryland/DC Stock Market Game 2012.

12. The Viola Pitts Scholarship 2008 | Holy Family (Elementary) School | Awarded $1,000

Essay was selected to received a $1,000 award. Presented by The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Holy Family #1115.

Alpha Sigma Lambda is the Premier National Honor Society for Nontraditional Students and is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies. Alpha Sigma Lambda (ASL) recognizes the achievements of adult students who maintain academic excellence while balancing other responsibilities in their lives. ASL encourages adult students to complete undergraduate degrees and promotes academic scholarship. ASL formed in 1945, and is the oldest and largest chapter-based honor society for adult students. American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) | Student Member

The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) | Student Member

University of Maryland University College – Online Chapter.

The NSLS is the nation’s largest leadership honor society. Students are selected by their college for membership based on either academic standing or leadership potential. Candidacy is a nationally recognized achievement of honorable distinction. With 664 chapters, the NSLS currently has 960,336 members nationwide.

In addition to honorable distinction, the NSLS provides a step-by-step program for members to build their leadership skills through participation at their campus or online. Upon completion of the program, members receive their leadership certificate and take their place among the top student leaders at their campus and across the country. Members are able to list their affiliation on all statements of personal accomplishment, including their resume.
